What Makes These Caulk Art Paintings Different
Before getting into the collection, it's worth understanding what separates caulk art from every other painting technique.
Jay applies flexible acrylic caulk — the same material used to seal bathtubs and windows — directly to canvas. He sculpts it into ridges, peaks, and organic forms, then lets it cure completely. Only after the caulk surface is fully set does he begin painting.
The result is a painting with real three-dimensional texture. Not the illusion of texture. Actual raised surfaces that catch light, cast shadows, and change appearance as you move around them. A photograph of a caulk art painting captures maybe 30% of what the original looks like in person.
Every painting below was made this way.
Forests and Landscapes
Birch Forest in Autumn — $400
One of the most technically demanding pieces in the collection. The birch bark texture is built entirely in caulk — each ridge, each dark marking, each curve of the trunk sculpted before any paint is applied. The autumn foliage creates a canopy of gold and amber above the white trunks.
This is a large original caulk art painting from Jay the Painter in Akron, Ohio. Dimensional texture throughout. One of a kind.
Enchanting Forest — $400
A deep, atmospheric forest scene with heavy caulk texture throughout the tree forms and undergrowth. The light filtering through the canopy creates a sense of depth that the dimensional texture amplifies — the foreground elements literally stand out from the canvas surface.
Original caulk art painting. Akron, Ohio artist Jay the Painter.
Illuminated Forest — $250
A forest interior lit from within — warm light pushing through dark tree forms. The caulk texture gives the tree trunks a bark-like roughness that paint alone could never achieve. The contrast between the textured dark forms and the glowing light creates a painting that reads differently at every distance.
Original caulk texture painting. One of a kind.
Firefly Forest at Midnight — $150
Dark forest, glowing points of light. The caulk texture creates a dense, layered forest floor and canopy, with the firefly lights painted as small bright points against the deep dark. A quieter piece than some of the larger landscapes, but one that rewards close inspection.
Original caulk art painting from Jay the Painter, Akron, Ohio.
Fall Landscape — $400
A full autumn landscape with heavy dimensional texture throughout. The foliage, the ground, the tree forms — all built in caulk before painting. One of the most texture-dense pieces in the collection.
Blue Forest Path — $200
The painting that has three full process photos on the site — you can see exactly how the caulk texture was built before painting began. The finished piece has a cool, atmospheric quality, with the path drawing the eye deep into the forest.

Mountain Lake Under Fire Sky — $150
A dramatic landscape with a fiery sky reflected in still mountain water. The caulk texture is concentrated in the sky and mountain forms, creating a surface that catches light dramatically. Original caulk art painting, Akron Ohio.

Fire Sky Birch — $150
White birch trunks against a burning sky. The contrast between the cool white of the birch bark texture and the warm fire tones of the sky makes this one of the most visually striking pieces in the collection.
Lavender Field at Golden Hour — $150
A lavender field at the end of the day, warm light across the rows. The caulk texture gives the lavender stalks a physical presence — they stand up from the canvas surface rather than being painted flat.

Tuscan Lavender Fields — $400
A larger, more expansive lavender landscape with cypress trees and a wide sky. One of the most detailed landscape pieces in the collection. Heavy caulk texture throughout.
Lavender Fields — $350
A classic lavender field composition with strong dimensional texture in the flower rows. Original caulk art painting from Jay the Painter.
Lavender Mountain — $400
Lavender fields with snow-capped mountains in the distance. The caulk texture creates a strong foreground presence that pulls the eye through the composition toward the mountains.
Mama I'm Coming Home — $350
A vibrant landscape with a tree at golden hour. The title gives this one a personal quality that makes it a strong gift piece. Heavy caulk texture throughout the tree and field.
Florals
Poppies — $400
A large floral piece with heavy caulk texture in the petals. Each poppy has real dimensional form — the petals curve and overlap in three dimensions, not just in paint. One of the most popular pieces in the collection.
Yellow Hibiscus — $350
A large hibiscus bloom with dramatic caulk texture in the petals and stamen. The yellow against a dark background creates strong contrast that makes the dimensional texture even more visible.
Pink Hibiscus at Midnight — $400
A hibiscus bloom against a deep midnight background. The caulk texture in the petals catches light dramatically against the dark ground. One of the most striking floral pieces in the collection.

Peach Hibiscus — $200
Warm peach tones in a large hibiscus bloom. The caulk texture gives the petals a soft, organic quality — they look like they could move.
Blue Hibiscus — $200 (via gallery)
A cooler take on the hibiscus subject — deep blue petals with strong dimensional caulk texture. Original caulk art painting from Jay the Painter, Akron, Ohio.
Morning Glory — $200
A morning glory bloom with delicate caulk texture in the petals and vine. The spiral form of the flower translates beautifully into dimensional texture.
Pink Pansy — $200
A close-up pansy with heavy caulk texture in the petals. The vein detail in the petals is built in caulk — each line is a physical ridge, not a painted mark.
Purple Pansy — $400
A large purple pansy with dramatic dimensional texture. The dark center and radiating petal veins are all built in caulk before painting.
Violet Pansy in Full Bloom — $150
A violet pansy with strong caulk texture throughout. Original caulk art painting, Akron Ohio.
Water Lilies at Midday — $150
Water lily pads and blooms with dimensional caulk texture. The lily pads have a physical flatness that contrasts with the raised texture of the blooms.
Purple Flowers from My Yard — $100
A personal piece — flowers from Jay's own yard, painted with caulk texture. One of the more intimate pieces in the collection.

Pink Flower — $350
A large pink floral with heavy dimensional caulk texture. Original caulk art painting from Jay the Painter.
Abstracts
Neon Vortex — $100
A swirling abstract with neon pink and cyan tones. The caulk texture creates a vortex of dimensional ridges that spiral toward the center. One of the most visually energetic pieces in the collection.
Inferno Petals — $200
An abstract floral form in fire tones — red, orange, gold. The caulk texture creates petal-like forms that radiate outward from the center. Part floral, part abstract, entirely original.
Ember Terrain — $200
An abstract landscape in ember tones — the caulk texture creates a terrain-like surface of ridges and valleys. The painting reads differently depending on how you orient it.
Birch Grove at Peak Color — $150
An abstract take on the birch tree subject — looser and more colorful than the realistic birch forest pieces. The caulk texture creates a sense of movement in the foliage.

Roosters
White Rooster — $150
A rooster portrait with dramatic caulk texture in the feathers. The feather detail is built in caulk — each quill is a physical ridge. The process photos on the site show this painting before and after painting, when it was still raw white caulk.

Other Originals
TARDIS — Bigger on the Inside — $400
A Doctor Who TARDIS rendered in caulk texture. The dimensional surface gives the police box a physical presence that makes it feel like it could actually be bigger on the inside. A one-of-a-kind piece for any serious fan.
Blue Ridge Mountain — $400
A large mountain landscape with heavy caulk texture in the mountain forms and foreground. The layered ridges of the Blue Ridge Mountains translate naturally into dimensional caulk texture.
The Tomato — $200
A close-up tomato with dimensional caulk texture. The skin of the tomato has a physical roundness — the caulk builds the form before the paint defines it. A surprisingly compelling subject.
Golden Circles — $150
An abstract piece with circular forms in gold and warm tones. The caulk texture gives each circle a physical presence — they're not painted flat, they're built up from the canvas surface.
Mini Paintings — Originals from $40
Every painting above is a full-size original. But Jay also makes a series of miniature caulk art paintings — 2.44" originals, all $40, all with the same dimensional caulk texture as the large pieces.
