Inferno Petals

8" x 10" — Original Painting

$150

Massive overlapping petal-like forms sweep across every inch of this 8"x10" canvas in deep crimson, burnt orange, copper, and molten gold — each one combed with hundreds of fine parallel caulk ridges that follow the curve of the form, creating a surface that looks like it was carved from cooling lava rather than built up by hand. The edges where each form meets the next are defined by raised gold caulk lines, beaded and precise, catching the light like veins of ore running through dark rock. Between the forms, deep black channels pool in the valleys, adding shadow and depth that make the warm tones glow even brighter by contrast. Scattered across the surface, clusters of tiny caulk dots punctuate the ridged fields — a signature texture detail that appears throughout Jay the Painter's caulk art work. The upper right corner blazes with yellow-gold, the only cool break in an otherwise all-fire composition. This is dimensional texture painting at its most immersive — the kind of piece that looks different every time the light changes. Made by hand in Akron, Ohio. One exists. No prints.
