Violet Pansy in Full Bloom
8" x 10" — Original Painting
A single pansy fills every inch of this 8"x10" canvas — and it is enormous. The petals sweep outward from a deep purple-black center in thick radiating caulk ridges of violet, magenta, lavender, and white, each ridge catching light differently so the flower seems to glow from within. The caulk texture follows the natural direction of each petal's veins, the ridges fanning outward from the center in long sweeping strokes that give the whole bloom a sense of motion — like it's still opening. At the very center, a small yellow stamen sits in a pool of deep purple-black, the only warm note in an otherwise cool violet composition. The white edges of the outer petals are built up in thick impasto caulk, ruffled and dimensional, the way a real pansy's petals curl and fold at their tips. The background is dark swirling green — thick caulk strokes that push the flower forward and make the violet tones pop with maximum contrast. This is Jay the Painter's caulk art applied to one of the most beloved garden flowers, and the dimensional texture makes every petal feel touchable. Made by hand in Akron, Ohio. One exists.
