Lavender Field at Golden Hour

8" x 10" — Original Painting

$150

Thousands of individual lavender stalks sweep across the lower two-thirds of this 8"x10" canvas — each one a raised caulk ridge pressed into the surface by hand, creating a field of real dimensional texture that you can feel with your fingertip, the rows curving gently left and right the way a real lavender field moves in the wind. The color is deep, saturated violet-purple, darkening toward the earth between the rows where shadow pools in the channels between the ridges. Above the field, a rolling green hillside catches the last warmth of a blazing orange sunset sky — the orange fading upward through peach and gold into a wide band of bright blue where the day still holds on. A single dark tree stands at the left, its canopy built up in thick caulk texture against the glowing horizon, silhouetted and still. The clouds above are textured too — broad caulk strokes sweeping across the blue in loose, organic curves. This is Jay the Painter's caulk art applied to one of the most beloved landscape subjects in painting — and the texture makes it something no photograph or print could ever replicate. Made by hand in Akron, Ohio. One exists. No prints.
