What Is Caulk Art?
Caulk art is a painting technique developed by Jay the Painter in which silicone caulk is applied to canvas in thick, sculptural layers before any paint is used. The caulk dries hard and permanent, creating a three-dimensional surface that gives the finished painting genuine physical depth.
When paint is applied over the dried caulk structure, it fills the valleys and catches the ridges — producing a texture that photographs can hint at but never fully capture. The paintings look different from every angle. They change as the light changes. They reward close inspection in a way that flat paintings simply cannot.
This is what separates caulk art from every other form of texture art. The depth is not painted. It is built.
Caulk Art: Floral Paintings
Jay's floral paintings are among the most searched and most collected pieces in his catalog. The reason is simple: when you build flower petals in three-dimensional caulk before painting them, the result looks less like a painting of a flower and more like a preserved flower pressed into canvas.
Hibiscus Caulk Art
The hibiscus series is the most recognized body of work in Jay's catalog. Each painting is a completely original composition — different color, different arrangement, different light — but all share the sculptural depth that makes them impossible to replicate.
Peach Hibiscus — original caulk art. Peach and coral petals built in 3D caulk relief.
Yellow Hibiscus — original caulk art. Bright yellow petals with thick sculptural texture.
Blue Hibiscus — original caulk art. Deep blue petals with dramatic sculptural relief.
Pink Hibiscus Midnight — original caulk art. Pink petals against a dark background.
Pansy Caulk Art
The pansy paintings are another defining series. Jay has painted pansies in purple, pink, violet, and peach — each one a completely original composition with petals built in raised caulk relief.
Purple Pansy — original caulk art. Every petal is a separate raised caulk form.
Pink Pansy — original caulk art. Soft pink tones with hard caulk structure.
Violet Pansy — original caulk art. Violet petals built in raised caulk relief.

Caulk Art: Landscape Paintings
Jay's landscape paintings are rooted in the specific landscape of Northeast Ohio — the birch forests, the autumn roads, the summer fields, the mountain horizons. The caulk texture gives them a physical presence that makes the familiar feel new.
Ohio Autumn Caulk Art
The Ohio Autumn series is Jay's most iconic landscape work. These paintings capture Northeast Ohio's fall foliage at its absolute peak — the kind of October day when the trees look like they are on fire.
Ohio Autumn Fire and Blue Sky — 8"×10", $150. The most iconic caulk art landscape in the collection.
Autumn Trees — original caulk art. Abstract interpretation of Ohio's fall foliage.
Birch Forest Caulk Art
The birch tree paintings are a recurring theme in Jay's landscape work. The white bark against autumn foliage is a subject he returns to again and again, finding new angles each time.
Birch Forest Autumn — original caulk art. White birch trunks built in raised caulk relief.
Five Birch Trees — original caulk art. Five white birch trunks with colorful autumn canopy.
Field and Mountain Caulk Art

Caulk Art: Abstract Paintings
The abstract paintings are where Jay's caulk texture technique reaches its most expressive. Without the constraint of representing a recognizable subject, the caulk builds forms that are purely about texture, depth, and physical presence.

The mini painting series brings the same caulk texture technique to a smaller format — same no-prints policy, same one-of-a-kind status, same physical depth. Original caulk art at every budget.

The Process Behind the Caulk Art
Every painting in this gallery was made using the same fundamental process: caulk structure first, paint second.
Here is the Ohio Autumn painting at each stage of the process — from blank canvas to finished caulk art:
Stage 1: The caulk structure is applied. All major forms are built in white caulk before any paint.
Stage 2: Early paint layers go on over the dried caulk structure.
Stage 3: The finished caulk art painting.
